The aim of this series is to identify consistently performing businesses and understand a little bit more about how they are able to achieve this consistency.
Before we get into today’s stock, let me set some context regarding my research objectives. I do a weekly exercise to study and learn the business of one stock as part of my research activities as a SEBI registered RA. The primary objective is to understand the business a little bit more, figure out the key growth drivers and identify broader industry trends & patterns. Most of the research below is knowledge derived from the past Annual Reports and recent Quarterly Investor presentations. I am not an expert in this domain or industry. And more importantly, this is not a recommendation to buy the stock nor a thesis for a multibagger opportunity.

With 74 manufacturing facilities across India's automotive hubs, the company has the ability to respond swiftly to market changes. This diversity extends to serving both OEM and aftermarket segments across multiple vehicle categories.

Uno Minda's edge comes from internal innovation and strategic partnerships. The company operates 37 R&D centers across six countries, invests 4% of revenue in R&D, and employs 1,200 engineers, yielding 444 patents and 463 designs.
This capability is enhanced by 25 strategic collaborations with global industry leaders. Innovation hubs CREAT and INITIA focus on automotive megatrends, while partnerships with companies like StarCharge accelerate access to new technologies.
This ecosystem has enabled Uno Minda to develop EV solutions that secured orders exceeding ₹3,000 Crores in peak annual value.

Uno Minda's flagship technology center, CREAT (Center for Research, Engineering, and Advanced Technologies), provides a competitive advantage through its centralized innovation model. Unlike competitors with fragmented R&D setups, this hub ensures seamless collaboration across teams and rapid development of technologies.
CREAT focuses on long-horizon projects (>3 years) in areas like electric vehicles, connected technologies, and autonomous systems. The center actively incubates future technologies like wireless chargers, automotive cameras, and ADAS controllers, positioning Uno Minda ahead of industry trends.

Uno Minda's localization strategy creates significant competitive advantages. By sourcing 83% from local suppliers, the company reduces supply chain risks while supporting domestic manufacturing.
This approach aligns with Atmanirbhar Bharat and positions the company for production-linked incentives (PLI).
The strategy extends to indigenous technology development, including India's first locally-made 4-feet-long tail lamp.
